Yaralla Sports Club Inc. (formerly Queensland Alumina Sports Club) was formed in 1966 to organise sporting and sports related social activities for a growing number of Queensland Alumina Ltd (QAL) employees and their families. The site occupied by the Club was originally a hostel for single construction workers at QAL.

In 1969, QAL made several buildings available for use as interim Club rooms. In subsequent years, with the assistance of QAL, the Club developed significant sporting facilities to provide sporting activities on the hostel site. These sporting facilities are still highly regarded as some of the best in Central Queensland.

In 1992 with the Club having a wide community membership base, QAL believed it was appropriate to grant the Club House independence. Accordingly, the Club became incorporated in its own right as a sporting facility and was renamed Yaralla Sports Club Inc. The Club has a current membership base of approximately 100,000 members with twelve active sports Sub-Committees involving a wide range of activities such as Lawn Bowls, Cricket, Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, Softball, Netball, Soccer and Deep Sea Fishing.

In 2001 the Club commenced the first of six stages of an ambitious development program spanning 12 years. The renovations have seen the Club evolve into a first-class Sporting, Leisure and Entertainment hub. Today the facility offers two restaurants, a cafe, sports bar, bottle shop, five function and event spaces, a gaming room featuring 103 machines, Purpose built 1000 sq metre fitness facility, a 60 room 4.5 star Mantra Hotel and Apartments and 297 sealed car parking spaces. Yaralla Sports Club also owns and operates the Gladstone Golf Club offering members and guests an 18 hole golf course, driving range, practice facilities, golf simulators and clubhouse.

To date $32 million has been reinvested back into the Club to ensure its members and community have access to the best facilities available in Central Queensland.

Yaralla Sports Club is the largest non-government contributor to sporting, community and charitable facilities in the Gladstone community contributing in excess of $1.5 million in cash contributions over the past decade.

The Objects of the Company are to benefit the community through the provision of sporting, social, educational, accommodation, entertainment and leisure facilities for the benefit of members and their guests.
