The nominee must reside within the boundaries controlled by the Gladstone Regional Council (GRC) and eligible entrants may be nominated by themselves or a member of the community (within GRC boundaries).
The nominee must be an individual, but can be part of a team or sporting partnership.
The competition is open to all age groups and sporting codes.
All age groups & gender will compete against each other for the weekly prize however the end of year overall winners will be divided into Senior & Junior (16 years & younger) sections.
Nominations will/may only be held for a month from nomination date for consideration.
The weekly and yearly Sports Star will be decided by a panel of judges with their decision being final & no discussions will be entered into.
The individual weekly winner will be awarded 50% of the $1,000 weekly prize money with the remaining 50% being awarded to their club or governing body/association. The club or governing body/association is encouraged to spend the prize money on the further development of their sport.
Weekly winners will be ineligible to be nominated on multiple occasions during 2013.
Weekly winners will be in contention to be awarded Senior Sports Star of the Year, Junior Sports Star of the Year and/or Club Person of the Year.
Junior Sports Person of the Year contenders must be aged 16 or under in 2013 to be eligible
Winners must abide by all award promotional requirements (i.e. story and photo requirements with The Observer) and have to receive both prize money and Weekly Sports Star award.
Personal images/details may be used for promotional purposes.
Weekly winners will receive two complimentary tickets to the Gala Yaralla Sports of the Year Awards where the winner of Sports Star of the Year, Junior Sports Star of the Year & Club Person of the Year will be announced.
Nominations will only be received by completing the online entry form by visiting the Yaralla website.
